By October, 29 2024
I’ve had the pleasure of visiting Czechia twice, I went to check out the beer and wine scene, and this beautiful country offered so much more! Here are some top travel tips for making the most of a Czech adventure.

Relax and Rejuvenate at Czech Spas
Czechia is renowned for its healing spas, and the legends about their therapeutic powers go back centuries. Karlovy Vary, one of the most famous spa towns, is a stunning spot to indulge in luxurious treatments or unwind in some of the country’s intense saunas. From mineral baths to mud wraps, these spas offer everything you need to relax and revitalize.

City Visits and Stunning Architecture
Every city in Czechia seems to have its unique architectural vibe. From the Baroque beauty of Prague to the Gothic charm of the castle city of Český Krumlov and the distinct Brutalist styles dotted throughout the country, you can explore styles and stories from many centuries. Spend days strolling the cities’ cobblestone streets, admiring historical sites, and taking in the gorgeous views of Czechia’s rich architectural landscape.

Beer Tourism – A National Pride
Beer is more than just a drink in Czechia—it’s a lifestyle! A must-see is the Pilsner Urquell brewery in Plzeň, where an interactive tour showcases the storied history and craftsmanship behind this iconic Pilsner. The highlight? Touring the cool, historic underground cellars and sampling fresh beer straight from the wooden tanks! And in Prague, you can’t miss U Fleků, the city’s longest-operating brewery, famous for its dark lager. With its enormous dining hall, it feels like you’re stepping onto the set of Game of Thrones, and they pour around 1,000 liters of beer every day!

Wine Tourism in Moravia
When you think wine, Czechia might not come to mind immediately, but it should! Moravia is Czechia’s wine haven, offering bike trails, winery hotels, and even summer concerts in the vineyards. Look out for aromatic whites like Pálava and Grüner Veltliner. Czech winemakers are also known for their botrytized wines, both sweet and dry, which often carry honey, biscuit, and marmalade notes. If you only make one wine stop, let it be the wine salon located in the cellars of Chateau Valtice. here you can try over where you can try the country’s top 100 wines.

Beyond Beer: Becherovka and Spirits
For those interested in spirits, Czechia’s famous Becherovka distillery in Karlovy Vary offers a fascinating tour. The recipe of this beloved herbal digestif is a closely guarded secret known by only two people at a time—never allowed to be in the same place at the same time. The tour ends with tastings, and you’ll appreciate the complex mix of herbs and spices they use to create this unique drink.

The Cocktail Scene
Czechia’s cocktail bars are world-class, and Prague boasts some fantastic spots for cocktail lovers. Check out Black Angels Bar and Hemingway Bar for sophisticated cocktails, or venture to Zapa Bar in Český Krumlov for some top-notch tiki drinks. Oh, and be sure to get a proper absinthe order at least once.

Traditional Czech Food
Czech cuisine is hearty and perfect for beer lovers. Expect delicious stews, pork knuckles, dumplings for soaking up their rich sauces, and always a little herbal spirit on the side to help it go down. It’s heavy, comforting, and incredibly flavorful—ideal after a day of exploring or brewery hopping.

With its rich culture, deep-rooted traditions, and hospitality, Czechia is a gem in Europe. From breathtaking architecture to spa relaxation, beer tours, and wineries, Czechia truly has it all. So, whether you’re looking to unwind or dive into the local food and drink scene, Czechia is ready to give you an unforgettable experience.
