September Wines of the Month at Dubai Duty Free

By September, 03 2025
As the new season gets underway, September brings a fresh lineup of Wines of the Month at Dubai Duty Free. This month’s selection takes us on a journey from northern Italy to the far south of Australia, showcasing two very unique wines and one total classic!

Attems Ramato Pinot Grigio Rosé – Friuli, Italy

We’re starting with something a little different: a rosé made from Pinot Grigio. Normally, Pinot Grigio is known as a crisp white wine, but here’s the secret — the grape skins are actually a pale pink. By letting the juice soak on the skins just after crushing, winemakers can coax out that blush hue, creating a style known in Friuli as Ramato (which means “coppery”). Friuli, tucked into Italy’s northeast corner, is one of the country’s most exciting regions for fresh, aromatic white wines. Attems has been making wine here since the 1100s, so they know a thing or two about tradition. In the glass, this Ramato rosé shows delicate notes of wild strawberry, orange peel, and a gentle mineral edge. It’s elegant, refreshing, and incredibly food-friendly. For a perfect pairing, try it with Prosciutto di San Daniele, which comes from the very same region.

Ninth Island Sauvignon Blanc – Tasmania, Australia

Next, we’re heading to the island of Tasmania, south of mainland Australia. Tasmania is a tiny player in the wine world, producing less than 1% of Australia’s output, but what it lacks in volume it makes up for in quality. Its southerly latitude and cool ocean breezes create the ideal conditions for crisp, vibrant styles of wine. The Ninth Island Sauvignon Blanc is a beautiful example of that Tasmanian freshness. On the nose, it bursts with aromas of lemon zest, passionfruit, and freshly cut herbs. On the palate, it’s zesty and mouthwatering, with bright acidity that makes it the perfect companion to oysters, goat cheese, or a simple green salad. It’s not every day you come across Tasmanian wine in Dubai, so this is one to snap up while you can.

Peter Lehmann Portrait Shiraz – Barossa Valley, Australia

Finally, we’re finishing with a classic: Shiraz from the Barossa Valley. Few names are as important to the story of Australian wine as Peter Lehmann. In the late 1970s, the region faced a crisis — there was more wine than the big companies were willing to buy, and local growers risked losing their livelihoods. Peter Lehmann, then a winemaker, stepped in. He created his own label to ensure that the growers’ grapes were used, their work valued, and their wines saved from being wasted. That spirit of community lives on in every bottle that bears his name. The Portrait Shiraz is a textbook Barossa red: plush and fruit-forward with layers of blackberry, plum, and dark chocolate, lifted by hints of spice. It’s bold without being heavy, with velvety tannins that make it smooth and approachable. Pair it with grilled meats, barbecued lamb, or a hearty ragu to really see what it can do.
